MOMS Club ®

With all talk about "back to school" I know there are many moms out there that are not in that phase yet.  There are many wonderful groups out there for moms.  The one that has been the most helpful for me as I was making my way through the infant and toddler stages, and now preschool and elementary, was the MOMS Club ®.  There are many throughout Delaware County. As much as the foundation of this organization is for stay at home moms, the definition of stay at home is vastly different from a few years ago. We have moms who work part-time, from home and even full time.  Being able to make connections with other moms in your area, and with kids in different stages in life was the best thing I ever did.  Because when I had questions about preschool, there were moms who had already waded their way through that journey and I was able to get feedback on what there was out there.  And now with my oldest entering Kindergarten it's nice to have other moms to tell me it will be okay when he goes into this whole new world of experiences.   But the best part is having a diverse group of women, with whom I have made great friends, to talk to and get together with for a much needed moms night out!

See Santa

I don't like to rush through the holidays and not give Thanksgiving it's due, but as there are only six weekends left before Christmas ( I heard that on the radio today) I thought it might be time to start planning some holiday family excursions. Seeing Santa at the Mall is always fun, but I like to try and make more of a family adventure out of the experience. Here is a list of some fun family excursions that are also places to see Santa. Most are pretty local, but I did include a few farther away that seemed fun for those that are super motivated. I have not actually been to many of these places yet, so I'd love to hear a review from you if you go.

Creative Halloween Candy Solutions: What do do with all that candy!

If you are at all like me, you are wonder what the H*## am I going to do with all this candy??!!  Here are a few ideas that might work for you and your family.
  • Using plastic wrap and ribbons, wrap one piece of candy and tie with a ribbon, repeating until you have enough to last from November 1-Christmas or Hanukkah and let the kids eat one a day.
  • Have your children choose 10 (or 20 what ever works for your family) pieces of candy and then  the "Switch Witch" or the "Great Pumpkin" will trade them a small toy or prize for the candy.  Donate to the local food pantry.
  • Hide some now for Christmas stockings (I do this every year and I have to really hide it or my husband will eat it!) I will do this today, the day after Halloween, before all the "good" candy has been picked over, to make sure we have good candy & to ensure that my kids have the same amount of the same candy!
  • Use it in a birthday or holiday party.  Most of the candy we received doesn't have anything Halloween on it, so we will be using our this weekend for my daughter's birthday party.  She is having a Willy Wonka themed party, so candy fits it!
  • Trade in your candy at a local trade and get $1 a pound!  The candy is then shipped overseas to our troops to eat and give to children there. Check out Halloween Candy Buy Backs find a participating office near you!
Do you have a creative solution?  Comment below and let us in on your secret!!!
