Fluoride...

Fluoride.
It has to be the one topic that parents ask me about everywhere. Is it good? Is it bad? They get it at home, why do they need it in the office? My dentist said this, my dentist said that…

To date, this fluoride blog I posted back in June has been my most popular blog post. It is so controversial, the topic of fluoride. Please read it to answer all your questions.

Like everything else, Fluoride is only beneficial in moderation. The discussion should occur between you and your dentist/hygienist about the amount of fluoride your child is being exposed to and if that is the right amount for your child.

Whenever patients ask questions I try to answer them as individually as possible. Not every child is the same. Not every child needs the same treatment. Some children may only need that one little application of Fluoride in the office every 6 months, while others need extra applications at home.

I strongly believe in evidence based studies that are peer-reviewed. Meaning, what we practice in our office has been studied with proven evidence and the studies have been reviewed by others in the same field. I also believe that as a parent you have the right to ask questions and understand potential treatments for your child.

Trust me, when I go to the pediatrician I drive them crazy with questions!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! As always, feel free to ask me any questions!
