Have a bunch of STUFFED ANIMALS you want to get rid of, but aren't sure what to do with them?
My daughter is a part of the Conservation Club at her school. They recently made RECYCLED PET BEDS (out of discarded stuffed animals) to donate to the local pet shelter.
We were so inspired and Lara had so much fun making them, we made more at home to donate and for family pets!
We all have many stuffed animals, pillows, blankets and soft materials in our home. Instead of filling our trash and landfills when we're done with them, take some time to gather these items to make into a cozy pet bed.
Please make sure their are no hard parts (ex. batteries, plastic parts, eyes, etc.) Make sure your children understand that these stuffed animals are going to help pets and please do not make them give up something they are not ready to give up. Put the animals in the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes.
Then get some fleece material (we got the No-Sew Fleece Blanket kits from the craft store and cut them). Follow the directions on the blanket kit: Put both pieces of fleece together, cut a square from each corner and then cut the strips approx. 3 inches long all the way around, then tie the strips around 3 sides. Fill with the soft materials, finish tying and you're done! So easy!
We loved doing this activity together! They make such warm, soft, comfortable beds!
