As many of you know, my life has been seriously affected by cancer and as a parent, a child with cancer seems to be, the scariest of all. A family in Chester County, have not only found out that their 1 year old child has cancer but he also a rare blood type - AB Negative. Anyone who is able to donate with AB Negative, can visit your nearest American Red Cross Donation Center and give blood. Reference: Kieran Dowds. The blood banks are very low on AB Negative blood. Kieran will also need platelets to help the blood coagulate. The chemo treatments will make him more likely to bleed & bruise so the platelets are so important.
Giving platelets is longer, more difficult and more painful than donating blood. It's about a 2 hour process and will leave a big black and blue mark. The below Google Doc link is a form that is sent to the family for donor info. Please fill it out if you can help this child get the necessary blood & platelets he needs.
