What is MOM Prom???
Each year there is a new group of moms that hear about MOM Prom and ask what is it? Three yeas ago I was watching Good Morning America when Betsy Crapps came on and shared her idea for a PROM for MOMS. They wore their old prom gowns, danced, ate, and were merry for one fun night all for charity. At this time I was President of the MOMS Club of Media and thought why can't we bring this to the Aston/Media area? Let's tweak it and do it all for a local charity.
MOM Prom was birthed from an idea to an event in one year. The MOMS Club Board pulled together along with other moms in our club and we had our first annual MOM Prom on April 28, 2012. It wasn't just moms invited, rather all ladies in the area over the age of 21 who wanted to get out and have the ultimate ladies night out. What made it ultimate? We had approximately 90 raffle prizes, open bar, dancing, food, desserts and fun all for an amazing cause! That year we packed Barnaby's of Aston with 168 women. Ladies came in everything from cocktail dresses to jeans. Everyone had a great time! We raised approximately $6,000 in our first year!
Last year we rocked MOM Prom once again and in two years we have raised approximately $12,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. For those of you that don't know Alex's is an amazing organization located in Wynwood,PA fighting childhood cancer one cup at a time. Keep following our blog so you can learn more about Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
