Themed Parties and Cool Party Favors

My son turned 5 last week and the theme for the party was Monster Trucks. Ever since going to The Monster Jam Truck Show in June, he has been fascinated with them!

This was such an easy party to organize. He chose 5 friends to attend. We ordered a Birthday Party Pizza from Pat's Pizza. (I love how they spelled out Happy Birthday Ben! in pepperoni).

I ordered cupcakes from A Pocket Full of Frosting with Ben's favorite Monster Jam truck: The Mohawk Warrior.

I ordered a pinata and goody boxes (to collect the candy in) online from Birthday Express.

I was also really lucky and found t-shirts on clearance at Target (for $1.80) I already had transfer paper for iron-ons to make each guest a Monster Jam Truck Party shirt as a party favor. (This was an easy Do-It-Yourself project that saved me money). The kids loved them and I felt good because it was a really nice and useful party favor about $2 per kid!

I also invited Jennifer Montgomery from CrazyFaces Face Painting to come paint the boys' faces. (I will be reviewing our experience in my next post).

Party Tip:
Keep an eye out for clearance items that may make good party favors. Think outside the box to come up with fun and useful party favors. You have to admit, that many party favors sold these days  are just cheap plastic toys that end up in the trash anyway.  -Crystal
